Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (ﷺ) sent us in a detachment of thirty horsemen. During the journey, we passed by an Arab tribe. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) requested hospitality from the people of the tribe, but they refused to host us. Coincidentally, their chief was bitten by something poisonous. The people came to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked, "Does anyone among you know how to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing)?" I said, "Yes," but I set the condition that I would not perform the ruqyah until you give us something. They said, "We will give you thirty sheep." So I recited Surah Al-Fatiha over him seven times and performed the ruqyah; he became healthy. When we took possession of the sheep, a thought came to our hearts, and we refrained from using them. We went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and mentioned the entire incident. Upon this, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "How did you know that it is a ruqyah (incantation)?" Then he said, "Take that flock of sheep and include my share with yours."
