حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ، عَنْ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ الْحَنَّاطِ، قَالَ:، ، شَهِدْتُ مَعَ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ الْفِطْرَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ فَسَأَلَهُ: كَيْفَ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْطُبَ " فَصَلَّى يَوْمَئِذٍ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ (١)،
Translation
English translation
Abu Yaqub al-Khayyat (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, I was in Madinah Munawwarah with Mus'ab bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him). He sent a messenger to Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) to find out what the practice of the Prophet (ﷺ) was on the day of Eid. He informed that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to perform the prayer before the sermon. Accordingly, Mus'ab (may Allah have mercy on him) also led the prayer before the sermon on that day.
