حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ: هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْإِزَارِ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ بِعِلْمٍ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: " إِزْرَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِلَى أَنْصَافِ، ، سَاقَيْهِ، لَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ، وَمَا أَسْفَلَ (١) مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ هُوَ (٢) فِي النَّارِ " يَقُولُهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Once a man asked Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) about the lower garment (izar), whether he had heard any saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding this. He replied, "Yes! Remember, I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say that a Muslim's lower garment should be up to the middle of the shin. There is no harm if it is between the shin and the ankles, but the part of the lower garment that is below the ankles will be in Hell." This sentence was repeated three times.
