Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَأَنْ يَجْلِسَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى جَمْرَةٍ حَتَّى تَحْتَرِقَ ثِيَابُهُ، وَتَخْلُصَ إِلَيْهِ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَطَأَ عَلَى قَبْرٍ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: It is better for any one of you to sit on a burning coal that burns his clothes and reaches his skin than to sit on a grave.
