حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَرْبَعٌ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَنْ يَدَعَهُنَّ النَّاسُ: النِّيَاحَةُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ (١) ، وَالطَّعْنُ فِي الْأَنْسَابِ، وَالْأَنْوَاءُ: يَقُولُ الرَّجُلُ: سُقِينَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَالْإِعْدَاءُ: أُجْرِبَ بَعِيرٌ فَأَجْرَبَ مِائَةً، فَمَنْ أَعْدَى الْأَوَّلَ؟ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: There are four things from the time of ignorance that people will never abandon: finding fault with lineage, wailing over the dead, attributing rain to the stars, and considering disease to be contagious. If a camel gets scabies and infects a hundred other camels, then who infected the first camel with scabies?
