English translation

A man came to his wife and saw signs of distress on her, so he went out towards the wilderness. Seeing this, his wife went to the millstone, brought it, and set it up, and kindled the oven, and said, "O Allah, grant us sustenance." She saw that the pot was filled, and when she went to the oven, it too was full. After a short while, her husband returned and said, "Did you get anything after me?" His wife said, "Yes, from our Lord." So he got up and went to the millstone and lifted it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "If he had not lifted the millstone from its place, it would have kept turning until the Day of Resurrection." It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said in my presence, "By Allah! It is much better that one of you goes to the mountain, gathers firewood, ties it in a bundle, carries it on his back, sells it, and thereby maintains his chastity, than that he goes to someone and begs from him."
