حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي، أُتِيتُ بِقَدَحَيْنِ: قَدَحِ لَبَنٍ، وَقَدَحِ خَمْرٍ، فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِمَا فَأَخَذْتُ اللَّبَنَ، فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَاكَ لِلْفِطْرَةِ، لَوْ أَخَذْتَ الْخَمْرَ غَوَتْ أُمَّتُكَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: On the night of Mi'raj, two vessels were brought to me, one containing milk and the other containing wine. I was told to choose whichever I wished. I chose the milk. Jibreel (peace be upon him) said to me: Praise be to Allah, who guided you to the right nature. If you had chosen the wine, your Ummah would have gone astray.
