حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يُصَلِّي بِالْمَدِينَةِ نَحْوًا مِنْ صَلَاةِ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي؟ قَالَ: وَمَا أَنْكَرْتَ مِنْ صَلَاتِي؟ قُلْتُ: لَا وَاللهِ إِلَّا خَيْرًا، إِنِّي أَحْبَبْتُ، ، أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ. قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، وَأَجْوَزُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Abu Khalid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to lead the prayer in Madinah Munawwarah in the manner of Qais bin Abi Hazim. Once I asked Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) also use to lead the prayer in this way (as you lead us)?" Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "What do you find unusual or foreign in my prayer?" I said, "This is what I wanted to ask you about." He said, "Yes, rather (the Prophet's prayer) was even shorter than this."
