Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلِمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْضِي الْحَاجَةَ فَيَأْكُلُ مَعَنَا اللَّحْمَ، وَيَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَحْجِزُهُ، أَوْ يَحْجُبُهُ إِلا الْجَنَابَةُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would relieve himself, then eat meat with us and recite Qur`an, and nothing stopped him or prevented him (from reciting Qur`an) except janabah.
