حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ كُتِبَ لَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، فَإِنْ تَبِعَهَا حَتَّى يُقْضَى دَفْنُهَا، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ، أَصْغَرُهُمَا - أَوْ أَحَدُهُمَا - مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ "، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَتَعَاظَمَهُ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ، فَقَالَتْ: صَدَقَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: " لَقَدْ فَرَّطْنَا فِي قَرَارِيطَ كَثِيرَةٍ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever offers the funeral prayer for someone will receive a reward equal to one qirat, and whoever waits until the burial is completed will receive a reward equal to two qirats, the smallest of which is equal to Mount Uhud. When Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) learned of this hadith, he considered it very important and sent a man to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) to inquire about it. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that Abu Huraira speaks the truth. Upon this, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In this way, we have lost many qirats.
