حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ، الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ، وَالْأُكْلَةُ وَالْأُكْلَتَانِ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَا يَجِدُ غِنًى يُغْنِيهِ، وَلَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا " (٣)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated with the same chain that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The needy is not the one who is turned away with one or two dates or one or two morsels; the real needy is the one who does not have enough to suffice himself and does not go around asking from others insistently.
