The Indonesian Health Ministry urged pilgrims to be aware of extremely hot weather reaching 50 degrees Celsius that possibly hit Saudi Arabia during the upcoming pilgrimage 1442 Hijri.
In the summer, the average maximum temperature is 43 ° C, and at night it tends to be relatively mild, with an average minimum temperature of 29.8 ° C, with a low and medium-altitude cloud cover according to a report by the Saudi National Center for Meteorology (NCM).
In Makkah during this month, the highest relative humidity was 93 percent, while the lowest was 6 percent, according to the report.
The climatic data for Medina indicated that the highest relative humidity recorded during this month was 92 percent, while the lowest relative humidity was one percent.
The pilgrims must take care of their health before leaving for the Holy Land in Mecca and Medina, Saudi Arabia, and prepare physically as well as possible considering the current extreme hot weather situation.
It could cause heat stroke due to dehydration. After two years of not being able to perform Hajj, the pilgrims must do their best, equip themselves with knowledge, mentally and physically,”
So, Don’t wait until feeling thirsty [to drink water]. This is important to prevent dehydration and heat stroke because it is one of the factors that cause death for pilgrims,” said Health Ministry’s Hajj Health Center Head Budi Sylvana.
Pilgrims are also advised to wear head coverings and sunscreen, as well as drink regularly to prevent dehydration.
