In the 7th century Quarn maybe has mentioned Black holes, way before it was scientifically predicted in 1915 by Einstein’s theory of general relativity, and before the 10th of April 2019, when the 1st real photo was taken of the massive black hole that is 40 billion km across and three million times the size of the Earth.
What is a Black Hole?
According to Einstein’s theory of general relativity A black hole form when a massive star dies, it leaves behind a small, dense remnant core that moves and spin at tremendous speed, and has a strong gravitational effect that nothing—not even light can escape from inside it.
Imagine a star ten times the size and the mass of a Sun squeezed into a sphere approximately the diameter of New York City, or if our earth turned into a black hole it would be less than 1cm in diameter
So we can conclude:
- It is invisible: as light doesn’t reflect or escape from it
- It is rapidly moving: both around itself *spinning* and around the universe.
- It is like a vacuum cleaner: swallowing everything from Lights to the biggest stars and everything in between.
In Quran
What is more fascinating and miraculous than the black hole, is that Quran was the 1st to mention it in the 7th century when no one could even come close to imagine of the black hole as Quran said:
* فَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ * الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ Al Takweer [15-16]
- الْخُنَّسِ Khonnas: which in Arabic has a meaning of the things that cannot be seen *invisible* as it was described to the Sheitan[Devil].
- الْجَوَارِ Jawar: which means the things that move fast.
- الْكُنَّسِ Konnas: has a meaning of what swallows everything it faces.
So it is astounding to see that Quran could have described it in 3 words, and did it way before humanity had any knowledge about the black hole or its nature. [Subhanallah]
The reason I had to write the verse in Arabic is that it is the original script, and any translation would still be based on the understanding of the original script who may didn’t have knowledge of the black hole at that time, and Allahu Alam.
