Almost a million meals will be served in the UAE during Ramadan as part of a humanitarian initiative. By The foundation which was set up by Sheikh Khalifa in 2007 to deliver a range of welfare initiatives at home and abroad.
The Foundation of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is working with more than 300 Emirati families, as well as employees from Emirates Transport and Emirates Post to prepare 951,000 meals for the Ramadan Iftar initiative.
The foundation’s director general, Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, stated that 31,700 meals will be distributed everyday across 102 locations.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever provides the food for a fasting person to break his fast with, then for his is the same reward as his (the fasting person’s), without anything being diminished from the reward of the fasting person.”

Another project promoting safety in the kitchen is also being rolled out again this year during the Holy Month. As Abu Dhabi Civil Defense will organize awareness lectures, training and distribute fire extinguishers for families preparing meals.
“We are participating, for the fourth consecutive year, in the project, and we are training housewives in first aid, whether in cases of fires or injuries, and we are performing house visits to teach them how to avoid fires and injuries,” said captain Mohammed Al Ansary, Director of emergency and general safety at Abu Dhabi Civil Defense.
The project, which is being supported by Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, also includes training for families about the foundation’s food safety standards.
