Azan (اذان) is the Islamic call to prayer. It is an Arabic word that linguistically means an announcement. The beautiful adhan echoes Five times a day every day or 1825 times a year throughout the world without stopping to remind Muslims of praying the five obligatory prayers.
And it is sunnah to recite this Dua after Azan and has a lot of benefits as we will discuss from Sahih Bukhari.
The azan is called out from the mosque by the muezzin, who stands either in the mosque’s minaret tower (if the mosque is large) or in a side door (if the mosque is small).
Adhaan glorifies the greatness of Allah, the creator of the universe, and is a sign that Allah has called his servant to immediately perform prayers.

Dua after Azan -Adhan-
You need to keep in mind that this dua should be recited once the Adhan is finished which will give you a chance to get closer to Jannah five times a day
Transliteration
‘Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-ddawatit-tammah, was-salatil qa’imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa bath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu [Innaka Laa Tukhliful Mii’aad]’
in Arabic
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ، وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّدا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَاماً مَحْمُودا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ، إَنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ
Meaning
O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of). (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
Things to do during Adhan
1. Repeat the Azan
By reciting the same words of the Adhan, we are considered answering it. This recitation is meant to be read during the Azan and not after the Azan itself. The Prophet (ﷺ). said in a hadith:“When you hear the Muazzin, repeat what he says..”[Sahih Muslim]
2. Recite sincere Dua
The time of Azan is also considered to be one of the blessed times for a Dua to be made. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “The supplication made between the azan and the iqamah is not rejected.”[Sunan Abi Daud]. So whenever you have Dua or wish you want, so between Adhan would be the best time to recite it

3. Send the Salawat upon the Prophet (ﷺ)
We are encouraged to recite the Salawat after the Azan by saying:
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa-’ala ali Muhammad
As the Hadith says: “When you hear the Muazzin, repeat what he says; then invoke the Salawat upon me, for everyone who invokes a Salawat upon me will receive ten blessings from Allah; then ask Allah to grant al-Wasila (the right to give intercession) for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah’s servants, and I hope that I may be the one. For whoever asks that I be given the al-Wasila, he will be assured to be given of my Syafaah (intercession).”

4. Be Considerate
It’s important to be respectful of others. Don’t be a distraction and be present at the moment. if there is anything within your hand that makes a loud sound, make sure to put it on silent until the Azan finishes
The Adhan words
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ
God is Great! God is Great! God is Great! God is Great!
Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah. Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah.
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ
I bear witness that there is no god except the One God. I bear witness that there is no god except the One God.
Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah. Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah.
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
I bear witness that Muhammed is the Messenger of God. I bear witness that Muhammed is the Messenger of God.
Hayya ‘alas-salah. Hayya ‘alas-salah
حَىَّ عَلَى الصَّلاَةِ حَىَّ عَلَى الصَّلاَةِ
Hurry to Prayer. Hurry to Prayer.
Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah. Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah.
حَىَّ عَلَى الْفَلاَحِ. حَىَّ عَلَى الْفَلاَحِ
Hurry to success. Hurry to success.
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
God is Great! God is Great!
La ilaha illallah
لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ
None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.
The Azan is the same for all 4 prayers except For the (fajr) prayer, the following phrase is added between Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah. the final repetition of Allahu Akbar:
As-salatu Khayrun Minan-nawm. As-salatu Khayrun Minan-nawm.
الصَّلاةُ خَيْرٌ مِن الْنَّوْم. الصَّلاةُ خَيْرٌ مِن الْنَّوْم
Prayer is better than sleep. Prayer is better than sleep.
Azan Origin
In the early Islamic days, when the call to prayer hasn’t been introduced yet, They would gather for the prayer by guessing the time as there wasn’t a specific call to announce the prayer time.
the companions were discussing with one another how to know the time of prayer. Some people suggested the use of a bell like the Christians, others proposed a trumpet like the horn used by the Jews.
Then Abdullah Bin Zaid r.a. then dreamed also Umar Al-Khattab r.a. that the adhan was made. they then told the Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ) about his dream of a man telling him the recitation of the call to prayer. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“It is a true dream (vision) God willing, proceed with Bilal and inform him what you saw and let him call it (the Azan), for he has a better voice than you”[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Benefits of Reciting Dua
According to some hadiths, Our Prophet (ﷺ) informed us about Reciting Dua after Azan has many benefits:
The person who recites it will get the Shyafah (Intercession) of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). – Sahih Bukhari.
It is Sunnah to answer the Adhaan. – Sahih Muslim.
Making dua after reciting it is never rejected. – Sunan Abi Daud.
Dua made between the Adhan and Iqamah is never rejected. – Sunan Abi Daud.
Recite Salawat after Adhan is mandatory. – Sahih Muslim.
We make this dua because Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) has been given the right of intercession by Allah (S.W.T).
We all will seek forgiveness from Allah on the Day of Judgment therefore while making this dua after adhan, we actually ask our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to ask Allah to decrease our difficulties on the Day of Judgment.
