حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُتَىِّ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ السَّعْدِيِّ، عَنْ أُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏

‏ إِنَّ لِلْوُضُوءِ شَيْطَانًا يُقَالُ لَهُ الْوَلْهَانُ فَاتَّقُوا وَسْوَاسَ الْمَاءِ ‏

‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ وَلَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِالْقَوِيِّ وَالصَّحِيحِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ لأَنَّا لاَ نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا أَسْنَدَهُ غَيْرَ خَارِجَةَ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَوْلَهُ وَلاَ يَصِحُّ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم شَيْءٌ ‏.‏ وَخَارِجَةُ لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ عِنْدَ أَصْحَابِنَا وَضَعَّفَهُ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ‏.‏

Translation

English translation

Ubayy bin Ka'b narrated that :

the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Indeed there is a Shaitan for Wudu' who is called "AI-Walahan." So beware of having misgivings about water."
