Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا غَزَا قَالَ
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ عَضُدِي وَأَنْتَ نَصِيرِي وَبِكَ أُقَاتِلُ
. قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ عَضُدِي . يَعْنِي عَوْنِي .
Translation
English translation
Anas narrated that when the Prophet (ﷺ) would go out for an expedition, he would say:
“O Allah, You are my `Aḍud and You are my Helper, and by You do I fight (Allāhumma anta `aḍudī, wa anta naṣīrī, wa bika uqātil).”
