Original Arabic

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏

‏ أَشْعَرُ كَلِمَةٍ تَكَلَّمَتْ بِهَا الْعَرَبُ كَلِمَةُ لَبِيدٍ أَلاَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلاَ اللَّهَ بَاطِلُ ‏

‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ‏.‏ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ‏.‏

Translation

English translation

Narrated Abu Hurairah:

that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The best statement spoken by the Arab is the saying of Labid: 'Everything aside from Allah perishes.'"
