Original Arabic
وعن سمرة بن جندب رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : “إن المسألة كد يكد بها الرجل وجهه، إلا أن يسأل الرجل سلطاناً أو في أمر لا بد منه" ((رواه الترمذي، وقال: حديث حسن صحيح)). "الكد" :الخدش ونحوه.
Translation
English translation
Samurah bin Jundub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Begging is a cut that a person inflicts upon his face; except for asking a ruler, or under the stress of circumstances from which there is no escape." [At- Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan Sahih].
