Original Arabic

وعن ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ جاء رجل إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال‏:‏ يا رسول الله كيف تقول في رجل أحب قومًا ولم يلحق بهم‏؟‏ فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏‏

‏ المرء مع من أحب‏

‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ ‏.‏

Translation

English translation

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

A man came to Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! What do you think of a man who loves some people but does not go any nearer to their position?" He (ﷺ) replied, "A man will be with those whom he loves". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
