Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَنَا أَوْلَى بِكُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ، فَمَنْ تَرَكَ دَيْنًا أَوْ ضَيَاعًا فَإِلَيَّ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِلْوَارِثِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: I have more right over the believers than their own selves, so whoever leaves behind a debt or children, it is my responsibility, and whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his heirs.
