قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ: مَالِكٌ، وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا قَالَ الْإِمَامُ: سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، فَقُولُوا: اللهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ وَافَقَ قَوْلُهُ قَوْلَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: When the Imam says "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah" and the follower says "Allahumma Rabbana wa lakal hamd," and if this phrase of his coincides with the "Allahumma Rabbana lakal hamd" of those in the heavens, then all his past sins will be forgiven.
