حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " لَا طِيَرَةَ، وَخَيْرُهَا الْفَأْلُ "، قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا الْفَأْلُ؟ قَالَ: " كَلِمَةٌ صَالِحَةٌ يَسْمَعُهَا أَحَدُكُمْ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saying: There is no reality in bad omens, but the best is optimism. Someone asked, O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by optimism? He replied: A good word that any of you hears.
