حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: قَالَ: " النَّاسُ مَعَادِنٌ، فَخِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا " (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated with the same chain that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: People are like hidden treasures (mines); those who were the best in the time of ignorance are the best in Islam as well, provided they gain understanding of the religion.
