Translation

English translation

Abdullah bin Abi Rafi’, who was the scribe of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), says that Marwan, in his absence, used to appoint Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) as his deputy over Madinah Munawwarah. Once, he appointed him as his deputy, so the Friday prayer was also led by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and in it, he recited Surah Munafiqun. After the prayer, I started walking alongside him. On the way, I asked him, “O Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), did you also recite the same two Surahs that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite?” He replied, “In fact, my beloved! Abu al-Qasim (ﷺ) recited these very two Surahs.”
