حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " صُومُوا الْهِلَالَ لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَعُدُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard Abul Qasim (ﷺ) saying: Fast upon sighting the moon, celebrate Eid upon sighting the moon, and if the moon is not visible and the sky is cloudy, then complete the count to thirty.
