حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، وَالْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَا: سَمِعْنَاهُ يَقُولُ: " مَا كَانَ أَحَدٌ أَعْلَمَ بِحَدِيثِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنِّي، إِلَّا مَا كَانَ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَكْتُبُ بِيَدِهِ، وَيَعِيهِ بِقَلْبِهِ، وَكُنْتُ أَعِيهِ بِقَلْبِي، وَلَا أَكْتُبُ بِيَدِي، وَاسْتَأْذَنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْكِتَابِ عَنْهُ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that no one knows more of the sayings of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) than me except Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), because he used to write them down with his hand and preserve them in his heart, whereas I only preserved them in my heart and did not write them down with my hand. He had sought permission from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) to write, which the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) granted him.
