حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، وَعَتَّابٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجُ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ شَهِدَ الْجِنَازَةَ حَتَّى يُصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَهَا حَتَّى تُدْفَنَ - وَقَالَ عَتَّابٌ: حَتَّى تُفْرَغَ - فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ "، قِيلَ: وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ يَا رَسُولَ، ، اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " مِثْلُ الْجَبَلَيْنِ الْعَظِيمَيْنِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever offers the funeral prayer for someone will receive a reward equal to one qirat, and whoever waits until the burial is completed will receive a reward equal to two qirats. The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked for clarification about the two qirats, so the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Equal to two great mountains.
