حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، وَعَتَّابٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ فُلَانٍ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ سَفَرًا فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ، قَالَ: " اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ - قَالَ: وَأُرَاهُ يَعْنِي قَالَ: وَالْحَامِلُ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ - اللهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا بِنُصْحٍ، وَاقْلِبْنَا بِذِمَّةٍ، نعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ (٢) السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ، ، الْمُنْقَلَبِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) set out with the intention of a journey and mounted his ride, he would recite this supplication: O Allah, You are my companion in the journey and my successor among my family, and You are the One Who seats (me) on the back of the mount. O Allah, accompany us with goodness and return us to our responsibility. We seek refuge in You from the hardships of the journey and the distress of returning.
