حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ - إِنْ كَانَ قَالَهُ - " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ "، وقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْتَنُّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَنَامَ، وَبَعْدَ مَا أَسْتَيْقِظُ، وَقَبْلَ مَا آكُلُ، وَبَعْدَ مَا آكُلُ حِينَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَا قَالَ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: If I had not feared hardship for my ummah, I would have commanded them to use the miswak with every ablution. Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Since I heard this statement of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), I use the miswak before sleeping, after waking up, before eating, and after eating.
