Musnad Ahmad Hadith 9065

Jarir bin Zaid says that one day I was sitting with Salim bin Abdullah, may Allah have mercy on him, near the gate of Madinah. A young man from the Quraysh passed by, and he had let his trousers hang below his ankles. Salim, may Allah have mercy on him, said to him, "Raise your trousers." He apologized, saying, "Since these are made of linen, they fall down by themselves." When he left, Salim, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "I heard Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrate from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, that a man, dressed in a precious garment, was walking arrogantly, boasting about himself, when Allah caused the earth to swallow him up. Now he will continue to sink in the earth until the Day of Resurrection."
