Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا تَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمْ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ مَا الَّذِي يَتَمَنَّى، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي مَا الَّذِي يُكْتَبُ لَهُ مِنْ أُمْنِيَّتِهِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated with the same chain that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: When any one of you wishes for something, let him see what he is wishing for, because he does not know what has been written for him from his wish.
