حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، ح، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا،، يَقُولُ: " خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرُ، وَلَوْ شِئْتُ لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِالثَّالِثِ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Abu Juhaifah:
I heard `Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: The best of this ummah after its Prophet (ﷺ) are Abu Bakr and ‘Umar (رضي الله عنهما), and if I wanted, I could tell you of the third one.
