حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ أَبُو صَالِحٍ، بِمَكَّةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نُهَاقَ الْحَمِيرِ بِاللَّيْلِ، فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ شَيْطَانًا، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ (١) الدِّيَكَةِ بِاللَّيْلِ، فَاسْأَلُوا اللهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ مَلَكًا " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: When you hear the braying of a donkey at night, it has seen a devil, so seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the devil. And when you hear the crowing of a rooster at night, remember that it has seen an angel, so at that time ask Allah for His bounty.
