حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ (٣) ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عُمَرَ، وَهُوَ مُسَجًّى بِثَوْبِهِ، قَدْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ، فَجَاءَ عَلِيٌّ فَكَشَفَ الثَّوْبَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْكَ أَبَا حَفْصٍ، فَوَاللهِ مَا بَقِيَ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدٌ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ أَنْ أَلْقَى اللهَ تَعَالَى بِصَحِيفَتِهِ مِنْكَ " (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from ‘Awn bin Abi Juhaifah that his father said:
I was with ʻUmar (رضي الله عنه) when he was lying covered with his garment after he had passed away. `Ali (رضي الله عنه) came and lifted the cloth from his face, then he said: May the mercy of Allah be upon you, Abu Hafs, for by Allah there is no one left, after the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), with whose record of deeds I would more like to meet Allah with than your record.
