حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ إِلَّا يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَبَوَاهُ اللَّذَانِ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ، أَوْ يُنَصِّرَانِهِ كَمَا تُنْتِجُونَ أَنْعَامَكُمْ، هَلْ تَكُونُ فِيهَا جَدْعَاءُ حَتَّى تَكُونُوا أَنْتُمْ تَجْدَعُونَهَا؟ " قَالَ رَجُلٌ: فَأَيْنَ هُمْ؟ قَالَ: " اللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ " (٢) قَالَ قَيْسٌ: " مَا أَرَى ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ إِلَّا كَانَ قَدَرِيًّا "،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Every child is born upon the natural disposition (fitrah), then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian. Its example is like the animal born among you—do you find any defect in it? Later, you yourselves cut its nose. A man asked: Where will these children be? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah knows best what they would have done when they grew up.
