حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ الصَّلَاةِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ؟ قَالَ: " الصَّلَاةُ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ " (٢)، قَالَ: فَأَيُّ الصِّيَامِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ؟ قَالَ: " شَهْرُ اللهِ الَّذِي تَدْعُونَهُ الْمُحَرَّمَ "،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once someone asked the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), "Which prayer is the most virtuous after the obligatory prayers?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "The prayer performed in the middle part of the night." The questioner then asked, "After the fast of the month of Ramadan, which day's fast is the most virtuous?" He replied, "The month of Allah which you call Muharram (its fasts are the most virtuous)."
