حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سِيرِينَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ يُدْخِلُهُ عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ، وَلَا يُنَجِّيهِ مِنَ النَّارِ "، قِيلَ: وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " وَلَا أَنَا، إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي رَبِّي بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ "، وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا - وَأَشَارَ وَهْبٌ - يَقْبِضُهَا وَيَبْسُطُهَا (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: None of you will enter Paradise or be saved from Hell by virtue of his deeds alone. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Not even you?" He replied, "Not even me, unless my Lord covers me with His forgiveness and mercy." After saying this, the Prophet (ﷺ) gestured with his blessed hand.
