حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: " أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ، فَجَعَلْتُهُ فِي مِكْتَلٍ لَنَا، فَعَلَّقْنَاهُ فِي سَقْفِ الْبَيْتِ، فَلَمْ نَزَلْ نَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى كَانَ آخِرُهُ أَصَابَهُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ حَيْثُ أَغَارُوا عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave me some dates. I put them in a pouch and hung that pouch on the roof of my house. We would keep taking dates out of it and eating them (but they would not decrease), but when the people of Syria attacked Madinah Munawwarah, it fell into their hands.
