حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هُرْمُزَ الْأَعْرَجُ (١) ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ أَصْوَاتَ الدِّيَكَةِ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ مَلَكًا، فَاسْأَلُوا اللهَ وَارْغَبُوا إِلَيْهِ، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نُهَاقَ الْحَمِيرِ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ شَيْطَانًا، فَاسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا رَأَتْ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: When you hear the crowing of a rooster (at night), remember that it has seen an angel, so at that time ask Allah for His bounty. And when you hear the braying of a donkey (at night), it has seen a devil, so seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the devil.
