Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سَلْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ النَّخَعِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنْ تَسَمَّى بِاسْمِي، فَلَا يَتَكَنَّى بِكُنْيَتِي، وَمَنِ اكْتَنَى بِكُنْيَتِي، فَلَا يَتَسَمَّى (١) بِاسْمِي " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever names himself after my name should not adopt my kunya, and whoever adopts my kunya should not take my name.
