Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ، فَإِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمًا صَائِمًا، فَلَا يَرْفُثْ وَلَا يَجْهَلْ، فَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ شَاتَمَهُ (٢) أَوْ قَاتَلَهُ، فَلْيَقُلْ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting, he should not indulge in any indecent or ignorant talk. If someone wants to fight or abuse him, he should simply say: I am fasting.
