حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرَغِّبُ النَّاسَ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ، وَيَقُولُ: " مَنْ قَامَهُ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ". وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَمَعَ النَّاسَ عَلَى الْقِيَامِ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) used to encourage standing (in prayer) during Ramadan, but did not give a firm command, and used to say: Whoever stands (in prayer) during Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven. And the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) did not gather the people for standing (in prayer).
