Musnad Ahmad Hadith 7646

It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Angel of Death was sent to Musa (peace be upon him) to seize his soul and he reached him, Musa (peace be upon him) struck him a blow and his eye was gouged out. He returned to the Lord and said, "You have sent me to a servant who does not want to die." Allah restored his eye and said, "Go back to him and tell him to place his hand on the back of an ox; for every hair that comes under his hand, his life will be increased by one year." Musa (peace be upon him) asked, "O Lord, what will happen after that?" Allah said, "Then death will come." He said, "Then let it be now." Then Musa (peace be upon him) requested Allah to bring him near Baitul Maqdis as much as the distance of a stone's throw. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If I were there, I would show you the grave of Musa (peace be upon him) beneath a red sand hill by the side of the road."
