حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ، فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ (٢) ، وَاضْطَرُّوهُمْ إِلَى أَضْيَقِهَا "، ، قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ: فَقُلْتُ لِسُهَيْلٍ: الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى؟ فَقَالَ: " الْمُشْرِكُونَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: When you meet these people on the road, do not initiate the greeting of peace with them, and force them towards the narrow side of the path. The narrator of the hadith, Zuhair, says that I asked my teacher Suhail whether this refers to the Jews and Christians? He replied: All polytheists are meant.
