Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ، فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِسُؤَالِهِمْ وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ، فَإِذَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنِ الشَّيْءِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ، وَإِذَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِالشَّيْءِ، فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: As long as I leave you regarding a matter, you too leave me regarding it, because the nations before you were destroyed only due to their excessive questioning and differing with their prophets. Whatever I forbid you from, abstain from it, and whatever I command you to do, do it to the best of your ability.
