Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: وَاصَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّاسَ فَوَاصَلُوا، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (١) ، فَنَهَاهُمْ، وَقَالَ: " إِنِّي لَسْتُ، ، مِثْلَكُمْ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ عِنْدَ رَبِّي فَيُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) once observed several fasts continuously with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor). When people found out, they did the same. When the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was informed of this, he forbade the people and said, "In this matter, I am not like you. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord Himself feeds and gives me drink."
