Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: " أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ مَا كَانَ، يَعْنِي، عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The best charity is that which is given when the heart is content, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and you should begin giving charity and alms to those who are under your responsibility.
