English translation
He said: And he mentioned, he said: And he mentioned that ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, judged concerning a man who stabbed another man in his leg with a horn. The man said, “O Messenger of Allah, let me take retaliation.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him, “Do not be hasty until your wound heals.” But the man insisted on taking retaliation, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, allowed him to take retaliation from him. The one who took retaliation became lame, and the one from whom retaliation was taken was healed. The one who took retaliation came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said to him, “O Messenger of Allah, I have become lame, and my companion has healed?!” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him, “Did I not command you not to take retaliation until your wound healed? But you disobeyed me! May Allah distance you, and your wound is void.” Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded after the man who became lame, “Whoever has a wound, let him not take retaliation until his wound heals. If his wound heals, then let him take retaliation.”
