Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were sitting in the service of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) when a man came, pulling his hair and wailing. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "What has happened to you?" He said, "I had intercourse with my wife during the day in the month of Ramadan." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Free a slave." He said, "I do not have a slave." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then fast for two consecutive months." He said, "I do not have the strength for that." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then feed sixty needy people." He said, "I do not have that much." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Sit down." Meanwhile, a large basket was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) from somewhere, in which there were fifteen saa’ of dates. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Take this and feed sixty needy people on your behalf." He said, "O Messenger of Allah! From this corner of Madinah to that corner, there is no household more in need than ours." The Prophet (ﷺ) smiled and said, "Go, you and your family eat it."
